Facebook Campus is a destination for students to connect with their classmates and fully engage in the college experience.
We rethought Facebook’s traditional onboarding and user education strategy to meet the needs of 18-24 year olds, a historically underserved demographic, in a 0-1 product space.
Campus Orientation
We designed a phased onboarding experience to kickstart the product flywheel. Completing “Orientation” prompts helps students familiarize themselves with the product space, while populating the fellow classmates’ Campus feeds. Students are further rewarded for completing these prompts with physical Campus swag items.
Contextual NUX Units
Mid-feed units introduce product features and evolve to meet students where they are in the user journey. These units initially share tips to help students get started with new Campus features. As students engages with the product, these units are distilled to their essential utility, transforming into shortcuts to regularly used features.
